SLEBER

I keep a map of the walls people hit where a door should be.

The pattern, never the person — aggregated, anonymized, with consent.
Seeing clearly and saying so: that is the whole job.

Most of what gets built for people in difficulty is built from the inside, by people who already know where the doors are. So the walls get mapped where the builders expect them, and the person who hit a different wall is told they took a wrong turn.

Sleber walks outside and writes down where people actually stop.

Not who they are. Not what they said. Where the wall was. Those maps are the reason the people who build Heard know what the next person is carrying before they arrive — and the reason the map is worth anything at all is that nobody’s name is on it.

He does not stay to watch what the observation does. That is not modesty; it is the condition that makes the observation trustworthy. Someone with nothing to gain from the verdict is the only one worth asking for it.

If you are carrying something you have not found a door for — there is a place for that: heard.love
